Far-UVC light is a specific range of ultraviolet (UV) light with a wavelength of around 222 nanometers (nm). It is a subset of UVC light, which typically includes wavelengths between 200 and 280 nm. Far-UVC light has gained attention for its ability to effectively inactivate or destroy microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, without posing significant harm to human skin and eyes.
Due to its ability to provide a safe and efficient means of disinfection in occupied environments, Far-UVC light is being explored and utilized in various applications, including air and surface disinfection in healthcare settings, public transportation, and other high-traffic areas where infection control is essential.
We developed Far-UVC For Life to serve as an information hub to help educate the public about the safety and efficacy of Far-UVC light in building healthier indoor spaces for our collective future.
Dear reader,
Welcome to the launch of the Far-UVC For Life website!
Our mission is to encourage the adoption of technology that makes indoor air safer to breathe, and dramatically reduce the risk of airborne infections. Far-UVC technology will have a profound and positive impact on our world – it is arguably the most effective, most energy-efficient, and safest way to transform indoor spaces into places of relative safety from infection. Not only is it transformational, it is also inevitable. In a world where viral mutation, population density, and international mobility continue to grow, the demand for infection risk reduction will become a megatrend.
We want this website to become the center of knowledge and resources for Far-UVC. From simple explanations about what it is, how it works, and how safe it is, to detailed scientific papers that report on credible research.
This Far-UVC site is resourced and managed by Lit Thinking ™, an industry leading participant in the application of Far-UVC technology. Lit Thinking’s website www.litthinking.com is also a great resource. I encourage you to visit, even more so to do business with us!
So, you ask, “Why create a separate website dedicated to Far-UVC, when you already have one of your own?” Here’s why:
1. The topic of “pathogen-safe” buildings is in its infancy. In the aftermath of COVID-19, the world is still coming to terms with the need to address indoor air infection risk. Anything we can do to bring attention to this emerging megatrend, along with the resources to help understand it, is good for the world.
2. There is a need for easy-to-access, unbiased resource material, that provides reliable information on the science, efficacy, safety, and application of Far-UVC.
3. Even though we support and encourage the efforts of our industry associations, more must be done to provide focus, resources, and effective promotion of this amazing technology.
Here is our commitment to you: We will do our very best to ensure that what you see on this website is factual, relevant, and balanced. It is our hope that this website becomes the first, and best, source of information for all things Far-UVC.
With deep appreciation,
John Rajchert
Co-Founder & CEO, Lit Thinking ™
Our mission is to educate the public about the application, efficacy and safety of Far-UVC light. The website is divided into six sections. The menu bar at the top of the site will help you navigate to each of the sections described below:
First, if you haven’t already, scroll up on the Home page to learn about our mission and to read the open letter from Mr. John Rajchert, CEO and Co-founder of Lit Thinking. This will provide an understanding of why we founded this site and what we hope you will gain from it. Then feel free to explore the pages described below.
